A Powerful Morning at the Emergency Services Show: My Visit to PTSD999

Grapham Cole OBE, Gary Hayes and Sustasin Blue visitor at PTSD999 stand

This morning, I had the privilege of attending the Emergency Services Show at the NEC, and what an experience it turned out to be. I was invited by Gary Hayes to visit the PTSD999 stand — a charity and community that continues to inspire me with their dedication to supporting the mental health of our emergency services personnel.

Walking into the arena, the energy was palpable. Stands, vehicles, demonstrations, technology — all showcasing the very best of the emergency services sector. But among all that activity, the PTSD999 stand stood out immediately, not because it was the loudest or the biggest, but because of the warmth and authenticity radiating from the team.

Meeting the Team Behind the Mission

From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed like an old friend. The team behind PTSD999 are some of the most genuine, down-to-earth, and passionate people you could ever hope to meet. Their commitment to helping those who dedicate their lives to keeping the public safe is nothing short of remarkable.

I also had the honour of meeting Graham Cole OBE, a true gentleman and a powerful advocate for the charity. His passion for supporting our emergency responders — and the humility with which he carries himself — is inspiring.

First-Hand Experience of the Impact

Seeing the work of PTSD999 up close was eye-opening. They're not just raising awareness; they're taking real action, creating safe spaces, building community, supporting families, and ensuring no one feels alone in their struggles. Listening to the team talk about their mission, their recent projects, and the lives they’ve touched made the visit even more meaningful.

Of Course… the Merchandise!

No visit would be complete without admiring the new PTSD999 merchandise — and it’s fair to say I didn’t leave empty-handed. The designs are bold, impactful, and full of pride for a cause that genuinely matters.

Looking Ahead

My visit reinforced why organisations like PTSD999 are so important. Behind every uniform is a human being — one who faces pressures, trauma, and challenges far beyond what the public often realises. PTSD999 stands beside them, offering compassion, understanding, and hope.

I’m incredibly grateful to Gary and the rest of the team for their hospitality, and I’m genuinely excited about the opportunities to work alongside them in the future. This is a community I’m proud to support, and today was a reminder of just how vital their work is.
